Heating Solutions - West Bridgford, Gamston, Compton Acres, Wilford & Rushcliffe
We do work on heating systems but we do not currently install or service boilers.
A selection of the type of jobs we do undertake are listed below:
- Replacing heating pumps
- Replacing motorised valves if the hot water / heating controls have failed
- Cleaning heating systems to tackle under performance (see below)
- Removing and replacing radiators to allow rooms to be decorated
- Replacing radiator valves or installing thermostatic valves
Cleaning Heating Systems
Older radiators have a habit of only heating up at the top, and this is often caused by a build-up of corrosion within the heating system. This corrosion or sludge causes blockages resulting in underperforming radiators. It is possible to put a cleaner into the system which is then drained and individual radiators can be taken off the wall and flushed out. We do not currently use or recommend a power flush which involves attaching a pump to your heating system to clean the system. A chemical inhibitor is then added to prevent further deterioration and there is an option to fit a magnetic filter which can help reduce further build-up of sludge. Another option is to replace the radiator with a new and more efficient version.
When the heating system is cleaned out, this is also an ideal opportunity to fit Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRV’s). As the name suggests, they thermostatically control the heat output of each radiator allowing for varying temperature control across different rooms.
Radiators
If you want to look at a selection of radiators then click on the links below. For information on normal convector radiators click on Henrad, select Radiators and then Compact. For a selection of vertical, traditional style or coloured radiators then select Supplies 4 Heat and for more unusual radiators select The Radiator Company link. Note this website also has a Heat Output Calculator, which is a useful tool for working out the required size of a radiator in a particular room.
